Together in Faith and Mission

In our Presbytery and beyond

The Presbytery of Perth is part of the Church of Scotland and serves a wide and wonderfully varied area, covering the council areas of Stirling, Clackmannanshire, Perth and Kinross, Dundee and Angus.

Our congregations are found in all kinds of places — from vibrant cities and towns to rural villages, farmland, coastal communities, and the beautiful mountains and glens of this part of Scotland.

Across the Presbytery there are 103 congregations, each one unique, with its own story, community, and way of serving God and the people around them.

The role of Presbytery is to support the gathered life of the Church of Scotland in this area. We seek to resource and encourage local congregations as they worship, pray, learn, care for one another and serve their communities in the name of Christ.

Presbytery also helps congregations stay connected to the wider Church, offering encouragement, oversight and practical support to ministers, elders and members so that churches can flourish in their local context.

We have been receiving LOTS of questions about the very welcome new "Scotland's Places of Worship Fund" that is set to launch in October.

Here are the answers to some of the most frequent ones we have received:

⛪ The one year pilot scheme to refund VAT costs spent on repairs to listed Scottish places of worships will be administered by Historic Environment Scotland using funds allocated to it by The Scottish Government

📝 It is not possible to apply to the fund BEFORE the project launches in the autumn.

🛠️ HES has confirmed to us that if the repair to the listed place of worship was carried out since the UK Government terminated the previous scheme earlier this year but before the pilot scheme launches in October, such projects will still be able to apply for funding. But bear in mind, eligibility criteria will still have to be met, so this is NOT a guarantee that all completed projects will receive funding, it is simply providing the opportunity for recently completed eligible projects to apply to the fund.

💷 All grants will be available on "a first come first served" and once the £1m funding is exhausted the pilot project will close.

Members of the HES grants team are hosting a series of online Q&As to present the new pilot fund and answer more questions directly. Details and booking links below 👇
