Weem Church

Weem church is semi-rural situated to the north of the River Tay in the village of Weem. The congregation feels like a family, enjoys traditional worship, with a strong connection to the parish.  The church was built between 1868 and 1875 as St. David’s Episcopal Chapel for the Menzies family. It is a stunning building, a beautiful place in which to worship, be at peace and pray; it is very popular for weddings. After the death of the last of the Menzies of Weem line in 1918, the chapel was acquired by the Church of Scotland in 1921. The congregation has just celebrated the 150th year of the J W Walker organ which is a renowned instrument still going strong at church services.

Grantully, Logierait and Strathtay

Affectionately known as GLS to its members, this congregation worships in two buildings – in the historic Church at Logierait (the one you see just below the road if you got off the A9 at Ballinluig and are heading towards the high quality eating establishments of Grandtully – spelt differently from the Church and that’s another story) and at Strathtay (surrounded by trees, it’s a particular treat during daffodil season).

Our members come from a broad range of backgrounds, enjoy worshipping together (particularly if the hymns have been well chosen!), raising funds together and being together.  We like to think we are community of folks who look out for each other, and we love welcoming visitors.

Kirk of St Bride Church w Dunbarney and Forgandenny w Aberdalgie and Forteviot

Kirk of St Bride Church, Abernethy: The church is situated next to the Round Tower in the heart of this rural village. There has been a church on this site since 590 AD with the present building over 200 years old. It is now the only church in the village. Worship times alternate weekly with Dunbarney and Forgandenny Church with services held either at 9.30am or 11.00am. Sunday Club for younger children is also held at this time. Updates of services are listed on noticeboards and on Abernethy Facebook Page here.

Aberdalgie and Forteviot is a close knit, caring congregation brought closer together by worship sharing our two historic churches. Primarily a rural parish our members gather for worship not only from the farms and houses within the parish bounds but also from many households in Perth and elsewhere. Many people who used to live and work on the land having retired to the town still choose to travel to worship at Aberdalgie and Forteviot in order to maintain their strong ties with the   people and places important to them and their families.

A place of worship seems to have been founded where our present church stands. or thereabouts, around 680 AD when St Serf passed through the area and established places of worship in the small communities along the Hillfoots. Forfar East and Old w Inverarity

East and Old Church was brought about by a union of the Old Parish Church (our current site) and East Church in 1977. Our building was constructed in 1790/91 and over the years has gone through some substantial renovations to make it fit for purpose for that time.  The most recent renovations were completed in 2017.

Inverarity Church was built in 1754 and has undergone a few upgrades over the years as well as building an adjacent church hall in 1994.  Inverarity and Kinnettles Parish had a union with Glamis Church in 1996 which was a successful union.  However, in 2023 due to changes in the National Church structure, it became clear to the members of Inverarity Church they would be better situated if they joined with East and Old Church, and this became official on 29 October 2023, which then formed our current parish of East, Old and Inverarity.

Perth North

Our Mission is: “To know Christ and make Him known”.

This drives all our objectives and activities as we seek to bring Christian worship, fellowship and service to the heart of everyday life not only within the City Centre of Perth, but in our Parish of Tulloch and Fairfield. We have a Community Development Worker based in our Parish.

Our church is open for worship on Sunday morning at 10.30am. A live-streaming service is available. We also have a lunchtime service on a Thursday and there are many other opportunities throughout the week for prayer time and bible study.

Whilst our church building and suite of halls and offices lie in the City Centre, we are very much a gathered congregation with most of our members attending from all parts of Perth and beyond. Given our location, we have the privilege to serve folk who both shop, work or reside in the City Centre itself. To this end, our church is open for a “Warm Space” on a Monday and Thursday morning.

Perth Riverside

We are a small and active Church of Scotland in north Perth. Riverside Church includes people from our local neighbourhood and from across Perth united by our shared faith in Jesus Christ.

We believe that every church has the same main vision and mission from God; to share the love and story of Jesus and to help people become his disciples. But each local community decides how to do that in their own time and place.

Our aim is to be a community of prayer, service, hospitality, learning & spiritual growth. Our community gatherings are relaxed and we try to be especially family friendly; come as you are, don’t worry about being late or the kids being noisy. We also value creativity and using our God given gifts and talents.

The church building is open most days and you’ll often find members of our church and community in Martha’s Kitchen, the cafe at the centre of our building.

Welcome

    Stirling St. Mark's

The parish of Stirling St Mark’s is on the city’s west side. It lies below Stirling Castle, straddles the River Forth, and takes in Junction 10 of the M9 motorway.

It includes all of Raploch, and part of Cornton district. It is mainly residential, with both public and private sector housing.

Our church buildings stand at the heart of Raploch, mid-way along Drip Road, at its junction with Menzies Drive (post-code FK8 1RE). Our Sunday morning services are at 11am.

St Mark’s is one of the Church of Scotland’s “Priority Area” congregations, because of the relatively high levels of deprivation within our parish. We have a wide range of age groups, and host a wide range of activities in our buildings, and outwith, which enable us to connect with our wider community.

We are supported by a number of local businesses, including local and national firms. We have particularly strong links with Raploch primary school, with a number of joint initiatives taking place within both the school’s and the church’s buildings, with occasional outdoors activities too.

Our leadership is provided by Rev Barry Hughes, and by Marie Clare Dungavell, our community engagement worker.

Our doors are open to everyone and you are assured of a warm welcome.

The present Church was built in 1751 but there has been a Church in St Ninians for over 1000 years.

Fellowship is important to us and we have a number of groups and events which give people the opportunity to meet together namely Fellowship Teas every Sunday, Soup and Sandwich Lunches each month from September to March, an annual barbecue in July. We also have Boys Brigade, Sunday Club, Tuesday Group and Craft Group.

Finally, we support the following charities Christian Aid, Blythswood Care, Water Aid, Erskine, Start Up Stirling, Stirling Street Pastors.

The alternative approach is from the opposite end of the same road, which emerges in the village of Killiecrankie.

The Glens and Kirriemuir United Parishes

The Glens and Kirriemuir United Parish Churches GKUPC serves the area centred on Kirriemuir, stretching into the Angus Glens and its surrounds. We worship in two churches, one in the town of Kirriemuir, one in the nearby village of Tannadice. Most Sunday services are livestreamed to our YouTube channel.

Services in Tannadice are at 09.45 every Sunday.

Services in Kirriemuir are at 11.15 every Sunday. The service on the last Sunday of the month is usually café style.

Teas and coffees are served after the service in both Kirriemuir and Tannadice.

Presently, in Kirriemuir we worship in the church hall while the church is being refurbished. We hope to be back in the church in the autumn of 2025.

Messy Church is held in Kirriemuir on a Sunday afternoon, 6 times a year. Social activities and outreach events feature regularly. We have a busy Guild, Thrums Tots, and we are part of Kirriemuir Churches Together. Tannadice has a monthly coffee morning and other social events throughout the year.
